LG’s Laptop brand, Xnote, introduced a new 12inch laptop Xnote
R200 in 2005. R200 was built to compete Samsung’s laptop, Sens Q45. R200 has completely won the battle. Despite the
fact that it is only 12inch small light laptop, the specification is exceptional. Moreover, the premium elegant design of
Hi-glossy black body and top with Hi-glossy white keyboard body it was a huge success.
R200-SP73K has CPU of Centrino Duo Processor T7300 2.0 Ghz which is plenty for word documents, music, video, internet
surfing, photoshop and graphic process such as 3D game. It also has graphic card of ATI Radeon X2300 HD of 128mb for graphic
processing. 21st century is an age of Information. R200 has extreme fast performance for network communication
such as the Gigabit Ethernet for LAN. For wireless, R200 has a new generation wireless card of Intel NEXT-GEN Wireless-N(802.11a/g/n)
of maximum speed of 135Mbps. For further wireless hardware use such as keyboard, mouse and etc, it owns its internal Bluetooth chip.
Although R200 has so much
strength compared to its small size and light weight, it has some weaknesses. R200 does not own Webcam embedded on the monitor.
Also because the laptop was released about 4 years ago, the LCD display does not have LED backlight which could look a little
darker than recent laptops. Although it happens rarely, because of the external graphic card is inside a small laptop, the
user sometimes feels the heat above the keyboard. It also sometimes gets overheated when a 3D graphic application ran a long
time.

Xnote R200-SP73K was chosen to be analyzed since this is the first 12inch laptop that had exceptional performance just
like a desktop. Not only R200 had amazing performance, it owns a most recent technology for network communication, elegant
design, and other small add-ons. For example, small laptops are made to be just mobile. The users cannot expect a strong performance
in media applications because of the small screen. However, R200 has a SRS WOW HD speaker capability that can enhance the
sound quality and volume by 3 times than normal internal speakers. This performs exceptional when watching movie or listening
to music.
Xnote R200-SP73K was a big step towards making small laptops as strong as a desktop computer. R200 not only competed
with Samsung’s Sens Q45, which is another 12inch laptop with similar specs, but has made it clear that small laptops
could be powerful and there will be a smaller computer with more capabilities.
